Porter Hedges is seeking a Billing Clerk to help assist the Accounting Department in a variety of duties including:

About the Role

Assists the Accounting Department in a variety of duties including reviewing invoices, data entry, filing, and e-billing.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in work-in-process, such as transferring time on files, writing up/down/off fees, writing down/off expenses, editing changes, and verifying address changes.
  • Maintains accounts receivable filing.
  • Assists in setup of new clients and/or matters.
  • Submits manual invoices to ebilling portals when auto submission is unavailable.
  • Maintain eBillingHub Amendment Process for Billing Clerks.
  • Submit accruals, budgets and statements for various ebilling clients.
  • Resolve rejections in the eBillingHub.
  • Distributes invoice copies to secretaries and Accounts Receivable Clerk for filing.
  • Maintains billing status log with mail out dates.
  • Reviews clients' invoices.
  • Completes client invoice mail-outs.
  • Handles heavy e-billing and follow through on rejected bills.
  • Distributes proformas to partners in a timely manner.
  • Provides Accounts Receivable Clerk with work-in-process information.
  • Furnishes proformas upon request.
  • Reprints invoices as needed.
  • Voids invoices.
  • Assists Accounting Department as needed during downtime.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in a law firm billing department.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications.
  • Knowledge of Elite 3E accounting software.
  • E-billing experience required. Experience with multiple e-billing systems preferred (Serengeti, Corridor, Legal Exchange, TyMetrix, Collaborati, Lawtrac, CounselLink, etc., as well as 3E eBilling-Hub).
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial reports and invoices.
  • Effective written and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to communicate well with all levels of personnel, including Partners, Associates, Managers, and Support Staff. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to work a full-time work week, with additional hours as needed, particularly during month-end, quarter-end, and year-end.

Pay range and compensation package

Benefits: Eligible for a hybrid work schedule after working at the firm for 90 days (3 days in office, 2 days WFH).
