We're looking for an IRIS Clinical Analyst-Pharmacy, someone who's ready to grow with our company. In this position you will build, implement support and optimize the medication databases across the electronic health record (EHR) software and interfaced applications and systems. Participates in the development of workflows, system configuration, change documentation, application upgrades and promotes activities appropriate to ensuring safe medication use for the ages of patients served (0-adult). Provides ongoing maintenance, testing, support and optimization of pharmacy supported systems within the Integrated System.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Maintains medication-use related systems to support patient safety and in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensures that all systems with medication databases, including the electronic health software application, Epic has medication records built and configured according to departmental established rules and guidelines; gathers and interprets clinical information required to address the associated medication safety considerations, e.g. sound alike/look alike and high alert concerns, sentinel event propensity, administration and storage requirements.
  • Builds and verifies the medication order entry, to be utilized by physicians, specific to drug, dose, route frequency, administration instructions, ordering instructions and lab associated rules.
  • Ensures best practice medication alerts and warnings are created and appropriate.
  • Ensures the following records in Epic are consistent with current clinical use guidelines: order sets, chemotherapy protocols, investigational medications, compounding and repackaging records, non-formulary/custom medications, and specialty medications.
  • Ensures coordination of medication build with automated dispensing systems
  • Ensures that current workflows and processes are evaluated and working with a Pharmacy Advisory Group, determines appropriateness of current and the development of future workflows to support safe dispensing practices
  • Coordinates updates to the EHR software and associated applications that impact medication inventory (database changes).
  • Validates impact of computer system upgrades on pharmacist computer order entry.
  • Ensures integrity and timely updates to the smart pump drug libraries.
  • Ensures the integration of Epic with other related applications.
  • Participates in the education of Epic.
  • Supports testing, validation, and implementation of systems.
  • Performs other essential functions.

Skills & Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree Science degree in Pharmacy required
  • RPH - Pharmacist by the Texas State Board of Pharmacy required
  • EPIC WIL - Epic Certified Willow by Epic preferred
  • 1 year Pharmacy experience required
